The countdown has begun to Hartpury’s biggest ever Summer Fair.
With free entry for everyone, even the family dog, the Summer Fair on Saturday, June 6th, will be an unmissable day out.
This year’s fair will offer lots of new and exciting activities for children and families. In a celebration of all that’s good about Gloucestershire, visitors will have a chance to try everything from zorbing, rock climbing and archery to clay pigeon shooting, circus skills and a bungee run.
Dog owners will get the chance to enter our family dog show and have a go at the dog agility course, while you can even bring your bike for a tune-up and make a smoothie from pedal power with the Gloucestershire Bike Project.
The action-packed outdoor arena programme, which starts at noon, will feature vintage tractors, show jumping, elite rugby and football displays, drug detection dogs and tent pegging. The indoor arena programme will keep equestrian fans entertained with a dressage and showjumping competition.
You can get up close and personal with lots of furry and not so furry animals in the walled garden, head to Colin’s Crazy Critters show and even walk some llamas! Up at the farm, there will be tractors to explore, welding workshops and dairy tours along with the clay pigeon shooting and sheep shearing.
There’s also a food and drink tent to pick up the best of local produce, a craft tent and a whole range of sporting activities to try your hand at. Refreshments also include a barbecue, ice cream vans and candy floss.
“With the Summer Fair just around the corner, we’re really looking forward to welcoming local people into the college and giving them the chance to see all of our stunning campus and the amazing facilities we have here,” said Hartpury Principal, Russell Marchant.
“I’m sure kids big and small will love the new Activity Zone, we have marquees bursting with local produce and crafts, opportunities to handle exotic animals and the chance to get involved in lots of sporting activities, including taking on some of our elite athletes in a series of challenges.
“Minibuses will run throughout the day to ensure people can make the most of their time with us by visiting all of the attractions, including the animals in the walled gardens and the farm.
“It is going to be a fantastic day out for all the family and entry is free, along with most of the activities. Where there is a small charge, all proceeds will be going to our chosen charity, Midlands Air Ambulance.”
The gates open at 11.30am with the full arena programme kicking off at noon. The show closes at 4pm.
