When the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games begin in Normandy this summer the equine superstars competing with their riders will be some off the best cared for horses in the world.

They will have their every need catered for, from the best veterinary care to a diet scientifically tailored to meet the nutritional needs of a competition horse.

Not all horses are so lucky.

As title sponsors of the Games and in keeping with Alltech’s own Equine Hero’s campaign, Alltech have donated 300 sachets of Lifeforce Formula, worth £9000, to two equine charities close to their heart, Bransby Horses and World Horse Welfare.

Bransby Horses’ Lincolnshire site is local to Alltech’s UK office in Stamford and currently looks after over 350 horses, with the number of horses coming into their care due to neglect, having increased dramatically over the past two years.

World Horse Welfare is the UK’s largest horse rescue and rehoming charity with four centres across the UK. The charity is also at the forefront of campaigning for improvements in legislation and enforcement to protect horses. They work to educate and share good welfare practice.

World Horse Welfare relies on voluntary income for all its work and is committed to expanding its 10 international community training programmes in the next few years to help even more working horses and their owners in some of the world’s poorest communities.

As a global company Alltech has an association with World Horse Welfare supporting the good work they do, not only at their rescue farms here but also the valuable work around the world.

Alltech’s UK Marketing Manager, Isla Browne personally delivered the sachets to each charity and had this to say of her visits:

“With Alltech investing so much money in top level competition this year as title sponsor of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, we felt it fitting to recognise the hard work that equine charities do looking after the many horses that come into their care.

“Lifeforce Formula will provide these horses and ponies with the very best in nutrition and be particularly beneficial where a horse is underweight due to neglect, helping to improve fibre digestion, enabling them to extract maximum nutrients from all feed and giving their immune systems a much needed boost.

“At Alltech we believe that every horse is worthy of a diet made up of high quality nutrients whether they are a top level competition horse or a horse being cared for by an equine charity waiting to find their forever home,” added Isla.

Alltech’s Equine Hero’s campaign is an on-going campaign, encouraging people within the equestrian community to nominate unsung heroes who go that extra mile.

Equine Heroes are all around, from the groom of a future world champion at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games to a member of staff at an equine charity who gains the trust of a horse that has been mistreated.
