The British Palomino Society is the official Palomino and Cream Dilute register in the United Kingdom for horses and ponies. And as the 2019 season gets underway, the society offers a warm welcome to new and long standing members.
For years the society has encouraged and assisted the advancement of Palominos, all Cream Dilutes and their breeding. This small, friendly society recognises that communication and co-operation among breeders and owners is key to their continued success.

Colin Bramley Robins of the British Palomino Society said: “Our goal is to be a welcoming community assisting each other to improve the quality and recognition of Palominos and cream dilutes.
“The society has a wide range of affiliated shows with many classes, both ridden and in hand, for Palominos that are registered with the British Palomino Society and owned by a current member of the Society.”
A small handful of shows include the Midland Arabian Festival, the Royal Three Counties Show, the Royal Welsh Show and the Sioe Dwyfor Show which is brand new this year.
For 2019, the British Palomino Society Spring Show, National Championships and Autumn Show are returning after their success in 2018, with all three firm favourites amongst members.
There are also a number of unique championships which members can qualify for throughout the year.
These include:
- Cream of the Crop – In hand and ridden section championships for any cream dilutes that are judged on conformation, movement and trueness to type.
- Palomino of the Year – Championship for BPS registered Palominos with in hand and ridden classes available to be judged under the new rule format.
- Golden Trail – An in hand Championship for BPS registered Palominos and judged only on the BPS colour criteria.
- And the prestigious Evening Performance at the Nationals.
From 2018 the British Palomino Society made the decision to change the judging criteria. All shades of Palomino are now welcome to register and compete with the BPS as colour is judged and awarded separately to the main class placing’s. Judging for conformation, movement and correctness of type will be separate to the colour criteria judging making it fairer for members.
Members of the Society receive a yearly journal that is packed full of news, interesting articles with iconic images and prize winners.
