Wellow Trekking Centre, based in Bath, Somerset, is holding a special event to mark Disabled Access Day.
Disabled Access Day was launched in 2015 to create opportunities for disabled people to try something new, highlighting the fantastic facilities that already exist at venues, as well as a friendly welcome.
Taking place on March 16, 2019, Accessibility Mark has joined forces with Disabled Access Day to encourage more disabled people to consider taking part in horse riding activities and learn about the benefits of spending time with horses.
As Wellow Trekking Centre is an Accessibility Mark accredited centre, the Disabled Access Day event provides an opportunity for visitors to come along and observe lessons which will be going on throughout the day.
Classes will feature riders with a range of different disabilities to highlight the fantastic achievements of the centre’s Accessibility Mark riders.
Staff will be on hand to answer questions about Accessibility Mark, the benefits of riding and how to get involved.
The centre boasts excellent facilities and is very wheelchair-friendly, ensuring visitors will enjoy a positive experience that could turn into life-changing hobby.
Starting at 12 noon, the event will run until 3pm and there is no booking required, with visitors free to just turn up on the day.
Refreshments will be available to purchase from the centres on-site, Rider’s Rest Café, serving light bites and delicious cakes.
Wellow Trekking’s owner Judy Shellard said: “We organised a similar event to coincide with Disabled Access Day in 2017, which proved hugely popular, so we are pleased to be able to get involved again this year.
“Anything that gives us the opportunity to raise awareness of our Accessibility Mark status is a good thing. We are proud of our riders and their achievements and welcome the chance to inspire a few more people to take up riding.”
