It’s a common problem that most girls face on a daily basis; does my bum look big in this? Here the team at Equestrian.com guide you through the common pitfalls and offer advice to help you get that perfect pair of breeches or jodhpurs.

All riders want to look good in their riding attire. An elegant and stylish look that compliments there ever immaculately turned out horse. So why is it so hard to look good in jodhpurs and breeches.

Don’t worry help is on hand and soon you can be the envy of the yard in a pair of jodhpurs or breeches that make your legs look long, slim and most importantly fit great.

With equestrian fashion rivalling countless high street brands, jodhpurs are now seen as a stylish fashion must for many.

When purchasing legwear, get the right size, comfort is important when riding. Too tight, is not a good look. Remember to wear the right underwear, breeches can be tight and see through.

Short and Petite

For a short and petite frame, go for breeches. Breeches are great for shorter legs as they won’t be too long. You also won’t have to put up with all the extra material at the bottom getting in the way when you put your boots on.

Make sure your breeches are high waisted. These will make your legs look much longer and more streamline.

Matching your boots, to your jodhpurs will create a longer leg appearance.

Avoid belts as they will cut your waist in two, stopping your eye following your body straight up, creating length.

On the top, look for a similar colour shade to elongate your body. This column colour effect will make you look taller.

Tall and Long

If your tall with long legs and are trying to make your legs look more understated, look for lighter shades of jodhpurs or breeches, these won’t make your legs look even longer.

Many brands offer breeches and jodhpurs in longer lengths, so you should never have the problem ‘they aren’t long enough’.

Patterned designs are great, to distract from the length of the leg and will add some variety to your wardrobe.

Have a contrasting colour boot to the jodhpurs to shorten the leg.

Focus on horizontal stripes on your top to direct the eye across the body not down. Belts also work well. Distracting from, not highlighting a long torso.

The Fuller Figure

Fuller figure ladies, embrace your curves. Dark colours are slimming, so opt for darker tones, black, navy and brown will help steamline your legs.

Look for jodhpurs and breeches with vertical lines running down your leg. This will draw the eye up and down the leg, as oppose to across at your hips.

High pockets are fabulous for making your bum look perkier.

Complete the look with a bright patterned top to encourage the eye up, avoiding the wider hip area.

Follow these tips and suggestions and avoid the embarrassment of any future fashion faux pas.
