Capel Manor College are the only college in Europe to offer the prestigious and historic Worshipful Company of Cordwainers’ Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle Making, as well as the Cordwainers' Diploma in Shoemaking.
Our saddlery and leatherwork courses are taught through practical demonstrations and hands-on workshops, providing you with the skills you need to work within the leather industries.
Our students go on to work for saddlery businesses and Master Saddlers, whilst others take up apprenticeships to further their training. The skills you learn with us are transferable and there are a wide range of employers to work for when you complete your course, such as luxury leather goods makers, the British Army and fashion designers.
Students also have the opportunity to showcase their skills in national competitions and we are proud to say they always win.

Charlie studied saddlery during his time at Capel Manor College:
“I studied at Capel Manor College because they were the only college that offered a two-year saddlery course. I also visited the campus and fell in love with the place. I really enjoyed the making aspect of the course. My tutors were incredibly supportive and helped me believe in myself. I now make bespoke leather goods for private clients as well as other companies, and I have recently launched my first made-to-order collection using leather-sourced British tanneries.”
