Moreton Morrell College is a UK and international leader in the development and delivery of equine courses. For over 40 years, the college has provided specialist equine degree programmes, designed with industry input to enhance your employability.
Subjects include equine performance coaching, equine science and equine therapy and rehabilitation offering career progression into a variety of professional roles.
Why could distance learning be the right pathway for you?
We understand at Moreton Morrell College that studying on location is not always feasible. Perhaps, you are already working in the equine industry and want to improve your career prospects, a mature student looking for a career change or are responsible for your own horses and can’t leave home for study. Our distance learning pathways are an opportunity to take the next step, whilst allowing for your own personal circumstances.
The benefits of distance learning aren’t just the ability to learn from home taking into account your current commitments, but it allows you to study part-time and spread the cost of the course making it more manageable.
What can you expect from a distance learning equine degree?
You might not be in the full-time college environment, but that doesn’t mean you miss out on learning materials. Resources are written by expert tutors and are accessible any time, any where. Plus, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) allows for interaction between distance learners and full time students, and you are always welcome to attend lectures and speak to module leaders over the phone or in person.
Equine Science explores exciting new developments in equine microbiology, nutrition and reproduction and opens the door to careers in equine nutrition, veterinary research and clinical practice.
Recent graduate Rebecca Wheaver enrolled on the FdSc Equine Science distance learning degree because she wanted to progress in her career, but financially she needed to study around her current employment.
She said, “I work full time and I wanted to do a degree because I didn’t have one. I felt a degree would help me progress with my career, but I couldn’t afford to stop working. Distance learning meant I was able to fit in working full-time with my study.”
Rebecca was one of our many distance learners that lived locally and this was one of the reasons WCG was the right choice for her. “Although I was studying online being able to come to the college to use the resources or have a meeting with the tutor was a big bonus for me,” she adds.
As a distance learning student you are invited to attend our graduation ceremony. The beautiful streets of historic Warwick are the backdrop for this memorable occasion and graduates don their gowns, hoods and mortarboards at the Grade-I-listed Old Shire Hall before moving with friends and family to the ceremony at the 900-year-old St Mary’s church. Rebecca says, “When they read your name out and you go up to everyone clapping and cheering it is an incredible feeling. A reward for all the hard work you have put in.”
Rebecca started her distance learning degree to further her career prospects and she received a management promotion during her study, which she owes to the degree.
Does this sound like the right pathway for you?
We have four dates throughout the year where we invite prospective students to come along and meet with expert tutors and find out more about the course. It is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the degrees we offer and get to know the staff who will support you on this next chapter. The next degree open event at Moreton Morrell College is Saturday 8 February and you can reserve your place here.
