Steeped in history dating back over two hundred years, the Foster family tradition of designing and manufacturing the ultimate performance footwear still lives on with David and Jan Foster at the forefront. Having founded the world-famous sporting brand, Reebok, in 1958, the Foster family are highly acclaimed producers of quality footwear. This experience is highlighted in the superior quality neoprene boots in the GRUBS range which was launched by David in 2002.

The Foster family and their long-standing connection with superior performance footwear were featured in the new BBC Two series ‘Inside the Factory’.

In the series Gregg Wallace, Cherry Healey and Ruth Goodman get exclusive access to some of the largest factories in Britain to reveal the secrets behind production on an epic scale. This episode focused on shoes and included the history of running shoes.

The expertise of the Foster family within the sports shoe industry lent itself well to the episode. David Foster who is now CEO of GRUBS, talked about his family history and the creation of Reebok International with Ruth Goodman. The filming took place at the Bolton Harriers training ground, with some of the athletes also braving the cold to make the day a great success.

There have been generations of successful shoemakers in the Foster family, starting with Joseph Foster in 1776, all the way through to the present day which now sees GRUBS boots as a popular choice in the outdoor pursuits and leisure sector. The Foster family tree and the shoe production methods formed an integral part of the television series.

Said David: “We have been committed to making quality shoes for generations and our GRUBS boots are no exception. It is great to be taking part in this series for the BBC and showcasing our past and present work.”
