Guide Dogs Volunteers Christine and Paul were surprised recently when they met with staff from Warwickshire based event company Grandstand Media who presented them with a further donation. Sarah Measom, Marketing and Communications Manager handed over a cheque for over £2500, making the total that Grandstand Media have donated to Guide Dogs to well over the £12,000 mark.
Sarah and her colleagues have been fundraising at Horse of the Year Show to raise enough to name and support a Guide Dog puppy through its first years of training, and it was at Horse of the Year Show that they were able to meet their named puppy ‘HOYS’.
Sarah said (Insert Quote): “We are delighted to have been able to support such a worthy charity and have also had great fun doing it. We have ran charity races dressed up in our mascot outfit and we also held a charity auction at the show in October. Meeting Paul and Christine was a great inspiration and we wish puppy HOYS the best of luck in the rest of his training.”
The amazing donation was made whilst Sarah and her colleague Emma Crossley were being given a VIP tour of Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre, where they got to meet Guide Dog owner Paul and Volunteer Puppy Walker Christine.
Paul, a local guide dog owner said: “It is always a privilege to meet people who have been fundraising for Guide Dogs, without the likes of the people at Grandstand Media, I wouldn’t have Kinsey my working guide dog who provides me with so much independence.”
