Hartpury’s Equine Academy used home advantage to pick up a hat-trick of wins at the British Showjumping Senior Championships, held recently at the college’s equine centre.
Tillie Newman, 16, a BTEC Horse Management student, picked up two wins riding her horse, Troy, in the 1.10 metre open and 1.25m open events over the weekend event.
Newman was joined by A-level student Joshua Thompson, 16, who also picked up a win in the Newcomers to give Hartpury’s equine academy riders three wins in total.
Fellow Hartpury student Jessica Balmer rounded off a successful competition for Hartpury-based riders by taking third place in the 1.25m open.
Nick Burton, Hartpury’s Equine Academy Director, said “It’s great to see equine academy students achieving such strong results in senior competitions. The trio competing this time will form part of the team of academy riders who will be contesting classes at Hartpury's Show Jumping Spectacular on 12th – 14th December. They are currently working closely with Academy Show Jumping coach Corinne Bracken and are looking on very good form.
