A treat for eventing fans with live streams on H&C+ from three major events
There’s a real treat in store for eventing fans over the coming weeks as the sporting calendar comes back to life after lockdown. Horse & Country’s streaming service, H&C+, will have exclusive live coverage from three major events; Burgham International, Wellington International and Mars Great Meadow International (MARSGMI) from The Plains, Virginia. The streams will all feature extensive cross country coverage and, in the case of MARSGMI, the dressage and showjumping phases will also feature.
The details for each event are as follows:
Burgham (19th – 23rd August)
There’ll be coverage of the cross country on H&C+ across Saturday and Sunday (22nd and 23rd) including the event’s feature class, the CCI4*-S on Saturday, which has a star list of competitors including:
- Current World Champions Ros Canter and Allstar B
- 2018 Badminton CCI5* winners Jonelle Price and Classic Moet
- 2017 Burghley CCI5* winners Oliver Townend and Ballaghmoor Class
Other riders entered include Laura Collett, Tim Price, William Fox-Pitt and Tom McEwen, so a truly star-studded class. There’ll also be coverage of the 5yo class on Saturday and, on Sunday, it’s the turn of the CCI2*-S and one section of BE100.
Mars Great Meadow International (20th – 23rd August)
Established in 2015, the MARS Great Meadow International takes place annually at Great Meadow in The Plains, Virginia. H&C+ members will be able to watch live coverage of all three phases of the CCI4*-S and the showjumping and cross country of the CCI3*-L, CCI3*-S,
CCI2*-S and the Preliminary Horse Trials. Many of the biggest names in the sport in the US will be on show including Will Coleman, Phillip Dutton, Clayton Fredericks and Liz Halliday-Sharp.
Wellington International (29th – 31st August)
This is Wellington’s ninth year, and its first with International status in the lead up to hosting the European Cup in 2023. This year’s event is taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend and H&C’s cameras will be there on the Sunday and Monday to capture the cross country action. Top names entered include Gemma Tattersall, Andrew Nicholson, Zara Tindall, Mary King, Sam Griffiths, Laura Collett and many more besides.
Coverage from Burgham and Wellington is by the team behind the Event Rider Masters who have pioneered so many innovations in the presentation of the sport in recent years. MARSGMI coverage is by H&C’s in-house team who came on board through the partnership forged with EQSportsNet last year, and who previously covered the event in 2019.
Jonathan Rippon, Director of Content for H&C commented; “We are delighted to bring three such high quality events to our viewers, particularly at a time when spectators are still unable to attend. Our schedule of live events is already strong but we continue to work alongside event organisers and governing bodies and will be announcing a lot more live coverage very soon. Watch this space.”
H&C+ members can watch all three live streams in the live events section at horseandcountry.tv and in the H&C+ apps. If you are unable to watch live, no problem; all of the action from each day of competition will be available to watch on-demand the following day. H&C+ membership is just £5.99 a month, with no contract required.
