THE team at Masta – the leading name in horse wear - have lent their support to three equine charities by donating rugs and accessories to help unwanted and abandoned horses and ponies.
With nationwide media coverage highlighting the increasing plight of equines in the UK, Masta made donations to World Horse Welfare, Redwings Horse Sanctuary and Bransby Horses.
All received a huge selection of turnout, stable and summer rugs in a variety of sizes for their horses and ponies that are the most vulnerable.
Said Liz Hopper of Masta: "We were delighted to provide the rugs and accessories to the three fantastic charities and we hope that the donations will help these very worthwhile causes."
Sue Hodgkins from World Horse Welfare, explains how donations of new and used equipment of all shapes and sizes are essential in supporting Britain’s needy horses: “It is becoming more common to see large groups of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules coming into the farms. Last November for example we took in a group of 63 who were suffering from a whole spectrum of problems as a result of neglect. Such cases dramatically swell our farm numbers overnight which puts a real strain on resources, so donations of good quality equipment are a fantastic help. The sheer quantity and quality of the Masta donation is unprecedented and the whole team is immensely grateful.”
Paul French, Logistics and Stocks Manager for Redwings, added: “It was like Christmas! We knew they were kindly sending us some rugs but when this delivery of enormous boxes arrived it was far beyond anything we had expected.
“We have 1300 horses living at our centres, and they live out all year round. Needless to say, rugs are one of our biggest expenses and this incredible donation will make a fantastic difference. Thank you Masta!”
Said Hannah Major, Fundraising & Events Coordinator for Bransby Horses: “We have been so fortunate to receive lots of amazing products from Masta.
“Boxes and boxes of rugs and all kinds of horse wear took up half the Visitor Centre when they arrived as a surprise delivery. We couldn’t be more delighted and neither could our ponies! Thank you so much - we love Masta rugs!”
