Spinal problems had left miniature dachshund Rolo in a desperate state with his owner Rachel Hickey considering surgery to ease the pain.
Rachel has owned Rolo since he was a pup and now six-years-old the issues with his spine had gradually worsened over time until he was left unable to walk and had to be carried everywhere.
As the pain became more intense Rolo also lost a lot of weight with his spine and hip bones clearly showing.
Said Rachel: “Dachshunds tend to carry weight easily but it just fell off Rolo as he didn’t seem to have the energy or the heart to eat his food.
“We had a lot of consultations and support from the vets who explained about the importance of physiotherapy and massage but at one point following a trip to the Veterinary College in Dublin we did discuss the fact Rolo may have required surgery.
“Thankfully with careful monitoring and consistent care he started to gain more movement and freedom and it was recommended we try feeding him VetSpec Omega-3 Joint Mobility Formula.
“As soon as we changed his diet Rolo started to eat well again, he loved the high chicken content, and over the next few weeks just got better and better with his weight getting back to normal and his strength continuing to improve.
