Industry Conferences and Educational Platforms New Additions to Osberton International Horse Trials
A series of forward thinking business conferences and educational platforms are new additions to a packed schedule at this year’s Osberton International Horse Trials organised by the team at BEDE Events.
Running from September 29 to October 3 at the picturesque Osberton Estate, as well as top class eventing and carriage driving, four innovative conferences, a business lunch and networking opportunities will also be held throughout the event.
This exciting new concept running under the Bedeveloped brand has already secured support from specialist sports timing company, Optimum Time and leading name in the safety world, uvex, well known for their head to toe personal protective equipment including riding helmets, gloves and eyewear.
- Wednesday, September 29 - will focus on supporting coaches and trainers with talks and discussions across a wide range of topics.
- Thursday, September 30 - the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) will be holding a seminar for vets on the theme of what vets need to know when on call at an event for both human and equine. The course - Event Incident Management - will cover all major aspects of working at a horse trials. Speakers include FEI Course Designer and Technical Delegate, Stuart Buntine; Jim Green of BARTA, UK; Lesley Barwise-Munro, BSc BVM&S CertEP MRCVS, Northumbria; Peter ‘Spike’ Milligam BVetMed MRCVS. Lambourn. Topics covered will be human casualties, equine safety, the fallen horse, acute eventing orthopaedics, acute eventing medicine, competitors vet/team role.
- Friday, October 1 - will see Claire Lomas MBE talk at the event’s inaugural Business Lunch and networking opportunity. Now well known for her legendary fundraising Claire suffered a life changing accident at Osberton International Horse Trials in 2007.The collision with a tree is well documented and left Claire without the use of her legs but now 14 years later and with a plethora of life experiences and challenges to recount, Claire is returning to the scene of her accident as guest speaker.
- Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3 - British Eventing Officials seminars. An in depth programme for TA's, Stewards, course designers & builders from BE, Pony Club and riding club. The sessions will include talks from the World Horse Welfare Organisation CEO, Roly Owers on how to manage the public impression when things go wrong and lessons learned in other countries. Sam Watson from Equi-ratings will be providing a live video link on how the statistics stack up for individual horse and rider combinations and which are the most likely to suffer issues. Information and data gathered from the BE records and turned into a powerful tool to improve event safety. Discussions also on clean data itself, how it's obtained, what is needed and how it should be used and qualified for the TA's along with course walks, fence information, training and more.
Osberton International Horse Trials (incorporating the British Eventing Young Horse Championship) runs from September 29 to October 3.
