Dengie Healthy Hooves is now available in new, easy-to-handle 15kg bags. This complete low-calorie, high-fibre feed is approved by the Laminitis Trust and packed with B vitamins, including biotin, which are essential for hoof health.
It is low in starch and sugar, and perfect for horses and ponies that are prone to laminitis or hoof problems. Dengie Healthy Hooves is made from a blend of chopped and pelleted alfalfa and straw, with a light molasses coating, garlic plus vitamins and minerals.
Key nutrients include zinc, calcium and biotin, which, when fed at the recommended quantity, provides levels that research has shown improve hoof growth and hardness.
A study published in the Equine Vet Journal (1992) found that greater growth rates and hardness of hooves was achieved at a daily feeding rate of 15mg of biotin rather than at 7.5mg.
