After a nationwide search for a new brand ambassador for recently launched Mollichaff Light Molasses Free grassroots events rider Shelley Thackery was the lucky winner. HorseHage & Mollichaff put out the search earlier last year for brand ambassadors for the new and exciting product, along with their full Mollichaff range.
Based in South Yorkshire, Shelley is a keen grassroots eventer, she first started riding at the age of seven and at 15-years-old took a long break with life events taking over before getting back into the saddle aged 41.
She has one big dream, to ride at Chatsworth Horse Trials and is ecstatic to have won the brand ambassador search.
Said Shelley: “I am so happy to have won the ambassador search competition, I couldn’t believe it when I found out. I am so grateful HorseHage & Mollichaff believe in my dreams too.
“The 12 month contract with £500 worth of HorseHage & Mollichaff products and branded items will go a long way and will really make a difference towards fuelling my adventure!
“This opportunity has really empowered me to keep achieving and striving for my dream.”
From being a young girl Shelley has had a dream to event at Chatsworth Horse Trials at Novice level.
This is a fairly local, big event to Shelley which she has been visiting for years and each time she admires the riders and horses competing on such prestigious grounds, spurring her on to reach her own goal.
As a young girl Shelley didn’t have the funds or opportunities to pursue her dream however when Shelley got divorced she saved her money and decided to try and capture that dream.
In October 2019 Shelley went on to purchase a 16hh, ex Thoroughbred racehorse by Circque out of Bourbonella called Caracus, known as Reg or Reggie in the stable for just a few hundred pounds. This is when her journey began.
Reg has shown amazing potential and the duo are currently looking to compete at BE90 level this year.
Said Shelley: “It has been a massive learning curve and I never realised how expensive, challenging and emotional the journey would be. One thing will always remain though, I don’t give up easy.
“Winning the brand ambassador search has motivated me to show that no matter what age, experience or funds you have with dreams and determination anything can be achieved.”
In October 2020, Shelley purchased Reggie’s half-brother, 17hh Carissimo known as Mo or Moose in the stable with the hope that at least one of her boys will help her fulfil her dream.
Said Shelley: “These two horses mean the world to me, they have been amazing therapy for me at the time of my life when I was feeling the most alone. I owe everything to them and feel so proud of them every day.”
Shelley has been feeding Reggie and Mo on HorseHage & Mollichaff products since first owning them.
Said Shelley: “HorseHage High Fibre and HorseHage Timothy have been game changers for keeping weight on the boys. I used to feed Mollichaff Original but have now moved onto the Mollichaff Light Molasses Free to assist with their gut health. All HorseHage & Mollichaff products are really high quality but still so reasonably priced which is key for me.”
Shelley has decided to fuel her adventure, using her ambassador product allowance on HorseHage Timothy and Mollichaff Light Molasses Free which both horses love, leaving a clean bucket and net every feed time.
Mark Westaway, Marketing Manager said: “We are delighted to have Shelley on board team HorseHage & Mollichaff.
“We are looking forward to seeing what she gets up to over the next 12 months and following her journey progress towards reaching her goal. We are really pleased we can help fuel her adventure!”
