North East Lincolnshire dressage rider, Lara Dyson, once again celebrated success at the British Dressage Northern Winter Regional Championships, held at Bishop Burton College.

Winning the Advanced Medium Restricted class on her stallion, Cyden Cadans M, with a score of 67.81% and coming second in the Medium Open Music Freestyle with a score of 71.61 means Lara and Cadans M have qualified for two classes at the Winter National Championship taking place at Hartpury Arena, Gloucestershire from 9 -13 April.

A delighted Lara said “I have to admit for the first time in years I was genuinely quite nervous and had to use many of my coaching techniques to keep my nerves under control and not let them transfer through to the horses, and I can only think it was down to winning all four classes last year on Cadans, that I felt the pressure more than any other competitions I have done on him!”

“I am over the moon to have won the Advanced Medium Restricted as he is still only seven and relatively new to this level, so was really pleased with how he coped with the atmosphere at Bishop Burton as I do think it is a spooky arena but provided us with a proper warm up for Hartpury".

Cyden Cadans M’s stable mate, pony stallion Cyden Oostings Amigo, ridden by 13-year-old Liberty Tyler also recorded a fabulous result coming second in the Preliminary class scoring an outstanding 71.61%, missing first place by only 0.14% and also qualifying for the Nationals.

Speaking of her immense pride in Amigo and Liberty, Lara said “Liberty rode a fantastically accurate and flashy test on my gorgeous little pony, Amigo. He is a pony well beyond his years, and at not even five- years- old, he went into an arena that many were finding spooky, just as though he was there for everyone to look at him.”

“Competing at her first ever regionals, Liberty remembered all the things we had been working on in training to produce a stunning test. Seeing her smiling face as she patted him at the end of the test, I admit, brought a little tear to my eye.”

“Amigo hadn't had the best of run ups to the nationals as I was away training so he had five days out in the field as opposed to most ponies that would have been schooling, schooling and schooling. This goes to demonstrate his wonderful nature and temperament.” added Lara, who is a brand ambassador for the Lifeforce Range from Alltech.

Lara’s only disappointment came in the Medium Open when Cyden Bodyguard Moorland had a very rare spook which badly affected her marks, meaning she finished in fifth place.

“I was a little disappointed in the Medium Open but I can’t be annoyed with him as he is such a genuine and lovely boy.  The rest of the test was by far the best he has ever done" said Lara.

All three Cyden stallions will be standing at Stallion AI Services for a limited time this April.
