Veterinary Thermal Imaging (VTI) is offering horse owners the chance to bag themselves a free back and saddle fit scan for their horse- all they have to do is organise a demonstration for five or more people.

“Thermal imaging is an amazing tool that visually shows what’s going on under the horse’s skin,” says Helen Morrell, Managing Director of VTI. “When people see the technology in action, they’re really impressed and can see hot spots, cold spots and thermal patterns that can help their vets, physio and farrier when it comes to the horse’s care and well being. Offering a free scan to horse owners happy to organise a demonstration is a great way for us to show the technology to more people, while the person who’s organised the demonstration gets a thank you, from us, in the form of a free scan.”

The back and saddle fit scan would normally cost £50 plus travel costs. If the demonstration is located within 15 miles of one of the VTI’s thermographers, travel for the demonstration will be free- over that distance and it will be charged at cost. If less than five people attend an organised demonstration, the scan and travel will be charged at full rate.

Thermal imaging can be used as a diagnostic tool, for performance management, to monitor the efficacy of a treatment or as a way to record a horse’s current condition. VTI thermographers visit the horse at his/her home, so there’s no need to transport the horse. In addition, thermal imaging in non-invasive and doesn’t require sedation as images can be recaptured on the wireless, state of the art infra red camera if the horse moves.
