The Pure Feed Company is launching a brand new Gut Balancer product to join its successful range of Pure+ supplements.
Designed by Dr David Marlin who obtained his PhD from Loughborough University after 4 years studying the responses of Thoroughbred racehorses to exercise and training was the perfect fit for us to formulate our Pure+ range. For 15 years David held the position of Senior Scientist and Head of Physiology at the Animal Health Trust. His main areas of professional interest are exercise physiology, nutrition, fitness, training, performance, thermoregulation, competition strategy, transport and respiratory disease.
With the hindgut function horse playing a vital role in the overall health and wellbeing of the horse, The Pure Feed Company has produced a cost effective Gut Balancer to help optimise hind gut function.
Hindgut function can be affected by many factors including exercise, stress, transport, changes in weather, dehydration, changes in diet, medication (including antibiotics and wormers), resulting in possible colic, laminitis, poor condition and a failure to maintain weight.
In many cases, abnormal hindgut problems are caused by an imbalance between the ‘good’ bacteria (which digest fibre efficiently and safely) and ‘bad’ bacteria which also digest fibre and starch but also make the environment inside the hindgut acidic.
Pure+ Pure Feed Gut Balancer provides an effective combination of prebiotics (non digestible food ingredient to promote the growth of beneficial micro-organisms ‘good bacteria’ in the gastro-intestinal tract) and probiotics (living friendly bacteria similar to those that live in the digestive tract) intended to decrease hindgut acidity and improve fibre digestibility by encouraging the growth of good over bad bacteria. It is designed to be fed daily on a maintenance basis for horses and ponies prone to gut problems but can also be fed at times of stress (as indicated above) as a preventative measure.
