Specialist operator, Ranch Rider is introducing a new Montana Wilderness Pack Trip, the horseback adventure taking guests deep into the Beartooth Mountains and Custer Forest.
Led by the Wilcox-Starkweather family, the knowledgeable fifth generation ranchers know every inch of the trail, their stories breathing life into the landscape.
Tony Daly, Managing Director of Ranch Rider comments, "Remains dating back 9,000 years have been found in this remote portion of the Big Sky state, and of great spiritual significance, Native American tribes including the Crow Indians used the area for vision-questing. Offering up some truly spectacular vistas, 41 of the tallest peaks in Montana are in the Beartooth Range with many of them standing at over 12,000 feet - sparkling clear streams, lakes (each with their own place in Indian heritage) and sweeping tundra found in this unspoilt wilderness.”
Lasting from six to ten days, the tailor-made trips are available for small groups of between two to eight people, many of the plateaus known as popular fishing spots.
Eight days from £2,179pp (two sharing) including ranch (first and last night) and camp accommodation, meals, horses, tack, activities, transfers from Billings. Excludes return flight from £879pp. Departures on request.
