The Riding for the Disabled Association recently partnered with Dressage Anywhere, the worldwide dressage competition website, to enable their riders to compete in the special RDA Online Dressage Championships. This provides a great opportunity for disabled riders to compete against riders from all over the country without leaving their own yard, especially for those who do not have transport or don’t own their own horses and compete via their local riding school.
FEI 5* International Para Judge Sarah Leitch judged the Championship. She said, “I enjoyed judging the tests as it was great to watch all the different riders and horses and see all they achieve. The RDA Online Championships are an ideal way for riders to progress their riding”.
The winning riders, Emma Suttle of Barrow Farm RDA, Tracy Yarnell of Kesteven Rideability, Peggy Holden of Buckingham House Group RDA, Joanne Restarick of Tradissar RDA and Mary Leigh of Mid Cheshire RDA, received a pair of Carl Hester RDA reins and 1st to 3rd placed riders were presented with beautiful gold, silver and bronze medals. The prizes were presented by Paralympic Champion Sophie Christiansen, much to the riders delight.
Qualifiers for the 2014 RDA Online Championships are now running till the end of March and are open to any disabled rider. Riders must be members of the RDA to compete in the Championships.
Dressage Anywhere was founded in 2010 by partners Ruth Chappell, Lucinda Freeman and Nereide Goodman and now has members from 58 countries all over the world competing in monthly competitions and training classes.
