Redwings launches Online Show next week as part of 40th anniversary celebrations.
The largest horse welfare charity in the UK is bringing back their online show to mark their 40th anniversary.
The Redwings Online Show has classes* celebrating horses, dogs, other pets and - for the first time – wildlife. There is also a special ‘Ruby’ class, open to pets or humans called Ruby, in honour of the charity’s special year. Winners are chosen from photographic submissions.
Entries open on Monday (1st July) and close on Thursday 25th July. Winners will be announced at the beginning of August.
Jude Palmer, the organiser of the Redwings Online Show, said: “We did our first online show during Covid, when we couldn’t do an in-person event. People seemed to love it, so we ran it the year after too. Because it just involves sending in a photo, everyone can take part!”
“We wanted to bring it back to mark our Ruby anniversary year and have even created a new class, for one year only, to celebrate special Rubys of the two or four-legged kind!
“There will be a Prettiest Mare, Handsomest Gelding, Best Veteran and Best Condition, as well as Best Rescue awards in both the horse and dog class. There’s an In Memory award in the general pet class we hope will give people a lovely opportunity to remember their much-loved friends.
“Previous online shows have raised over £4,000 for Redwings, and at a time when the demands on charity funds are so high, we hope people will get behind it.
“Entries cost £4.00 each, and you can enter as many categories and photos as you’d like.
“There are some brilliant prizes on offer, and thanks to the wonderful sponsorship we’ve secured, all the donations made for entry will go directly towards helping us to look after the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules in our care.”
Redwings would like to thank SPILLERS for sponsoring the horse class, Pooch’s for sponsoring the dog class and The Garden Pantry for sponsoring the ‘Ruby’ class. Prizes include feed vouchers, and a tasting club subscription, amongst others, and more to be announced.
Donations for entry should be made here and your photos, class info and your name emailed to communications@redwings.co.uk
Jude said: “We couldn’t help the horses, ponies, donkeys and mules who need us without the support of the Redwings Angels, our wonderful friends and donors, and we’re so grateful for everything they do.”
