From 8-12 May 2019, CHI Royal Windsor Horse Show is delighted to announce the Show’s first-ever live zone, known as ‘RWHS Live’, featuring equestrian stars and activities bound to keep visitors entertained. The zone will be situated at the Bandstand, located on the South Lawn.

Running throughout the entirety of the Show, RWHS Live will start at 10.00am and on certain days finish as late as 8.00pm. Filled with something for everybody, visitors can expect everything from meet and greets with famous riders through to live music and dance.

As Royal Windsor Horse Show’s official charity for 2019, World Horse Welfare will be present at RWHS Live, highlighting its World Horse Trail, a trail of beautifully designed horses on display around the showground and Windsor town centre. The British Horse Society will join the week’s programme, co-presented by well-known actor and the charity’s President Martin Clunes. Further equestrian personalities taking to the stage at RWHS Live will include the much-loved Teddy the Shetland, a celebrity pony who has a global following of over 120,000, and one of the talented jockeys competing in the Land Rover Shetland Pony Grand National. Continuing the theme of VIP animals is Hovis, a popular horse who keeps a weekly diary, who will be on site all week, and his owner, Karen Thompson, will be appearing at the Bandstand on Friday to talk about how Hovis’ work is used to help the equine welfare charity, Bransby Horses. Furthermore, several of the best riders in their respective disciplines, including five-time Paralympic gold medallist, Natasha Baker MBE, will be on stage giving meet-and-greets and fascinating talks on what it’s like to compete at the very top of their unique professions.

Adding to the proceedings will be the Royal Collection Trust, an organisation that looks after the Royal Collection, one of the most important art collections in the world, and manages the public opening of the official residences of Her Majesty The Queen. At RWHS Live they will focus on Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s love of performance, in particular the circus that performed for them in the Quadrangle at Windsor Castle in 1847, featuring a life-size baby elephant puppet created by the puppeteers behind the award-winning War Horse, as well as circus jugglers and acrobats.

Entertainment at the Bandstand is the perfect way to soak up the Royal Windsor Horse Show atmosphere with the King of British Musical Hall, Mr Mickey Driver, and his singalongs certain to bring a strong sense of nostalgia to the gathered crowds. On Thursday, Driver will introduce Ben Langley, a family-friendly comic and finalist in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent, who will be performing his side-splitting act regularly throughout Thursday to Saturday. Interspersing his performances will be some of the displays performing in The Pageant – hosted at Royal Windsor Horse Show on the evenings of 9,10 & 11 May and celebrating 200-years since the birth of Queen Victoria – bringing their traditional acts for the pleasure of crowds in between the first-rate equestrian action. Further musical displays will be provided by one of the country’s leading violinists, Aelfwyn Shipton, whose setlist is certain to be jam-packed with classics.

Marketing Director Jo Peck commented: “We are really excited to be welcoming RWHS Live to the Show for the first time. The Show is continually growing and is always looking for innovative ways to provide the most exceptional entertainment to spectators. Organisers have gone above and beyond this year, the RWHS Live programme is not to be missed!”
