Choosing a degree course in Equine studies at Moreton Morrell College could put on the right track to achieving that ambition, and this Saturday’s Animal, Equine and Veterinary Degree Open Event on 19 January is where you can find out all about the equine and animal management degree courses at the Warwickshire-based centre for land-based education..
Moreton Morrell College is a UK and international leader in the development and delivery of equine courses. Since 1948 the college has provided specialist equine degree programmes, designed with industry input to enhance employability on completion of your studies.
With subjects including equine therapy, business management, sports science, horse care, coaching, equine science, horseracing industry and many more, there’s a course at Moreton Morrell College to suit every specialism and level of experience.
As a student, you will have opportunities to get involved in the British Eventing Spring and Autumn Horse Trials, join our Elite or Performance Equine Academies and take part in ongoing research projects to help develop the industry.
Brand new for this September is a suite of four year Integrated Foundation Degrees which are validated in partnership with Coventry University. These courses are ideal if you need more time to get to grips with the science aspect of your degree, or if you don't quite achieve the grades needed to go straight onto a three year degree. And they are great value for money - it's like getting four years for the price of three.

What our graduates do now
Sian Phipps graduated in 2015 with and BSc (Hons) Equine and Performance Coaching and is now running her own performance and confidence coaching business. She has just launched online coaching to make the business accessible to all.
She is a British Showjumping Level 2 Coach, registered with the Pony Club and an experienced professional rider who is determined to aid all riders in achieving the mind-set to obtain their goals.
She says: “I thrive on helping others to achieve their goals, I thrive on the passion which runs through the blood of every single person in the equestrian world. The passion which sees us getting soaked, freezing, and covered in mud sorting out our horses, whilst they are oblivious in their waterproof, thermal lined, head to toe rug. What a passion it is!”
She coaches because she thinks that everyone can achieve their goals with the right motivation and help. She says: “I coach because I believe you can do it, I believe in inspiring you to pursue your passion and I believe in enabling you to achieve your goals. I believe in releasing your inner badass, your potential and maximising your performance.”
Sian says that Moreton Morrell was an incredible place to learn and to live. “The lecturers go above and beyond to support you during your studies. There is always a friendly face on campus, and plenty to get involved with - like the Riding Academy which is a great opportunity. My degree studies set me up with the skills to pursue my coaching ventures!”

If you’re looking ahead to GCSEs later this year, it’s time to get yourself sorted for September.
With lots of subjects, study options and apprenticeships available, Moreton Morrell College offers a wide range of opportunities and its January further education and apprenticeship open event on Saturday 26 January gives you the chance to get the information you need to decide which option is right for you.
Moreton Morrell forging the way
Moreton Morrell is one of only three colleges in the UK to teach farriery and has an unrivalled reputation in this area. It started teaching this specialism in 1995 and its four lecturers are all practising farriers. Together they have an unrivalled combination skills and expertise with a combined 150 years of experience in the profession.
Last September, twenty one students from across the UK joined its Farriery Access course, a programme of study especially designed for those wishing to apply for a Farriery Apprenticeship.
During this one-year, full-time preparatory course in blacksmithing and forgework, students will also develop horse care and other required skills useful to an Approved Training Farrier or ATF. In order to progress to an apprenticeship, it is essential to find an ATF that will provide that on-the-job training necessary to pass the required standards.
Students learn in traditional brick-built forges and workshops, conducted in a small personal environment by award winning staff. Its farriery tutors are members of The Worshipful Company of Farriers – the highest qualification possible.
Moreton Morrell’s 750 acre campus also boasts a working farm, equine centre, construction workshops and animal centre. Other courses on offer include Agriculture, Animal & Equine Management, Arboriculture, Blacksmithing, Construction, Farriery and Floristry.
