Renowned equestrian bronze sculptor, Belinda Sillars, will be unveiling ‘Icarus’, her latest creation, at this year’s Badminton Horse Trials. As a limited edition piece with a ground-breaking palomino finish, he’s something that any equestrian or appreciator of art will be enchanted by.
Icarus is based on Belinda’s own pony, a striking palomino with a beautiful head and excellent conformation. Not only are the detail, scale and the skill used in the design simply breathtaking, but so is the finish. In addition to traditional bronze, Icarus will be available with a palomino finish that’s created using combinations of traditional applications to achieve a striking patina.
“As this piece was inspired by my own palomino, Icarus, I just felt I had to push the boundaries of the patinas I have achieved before and perfect a palomino finish on some of the limited edition of 12 sculptures. I believe this is a first for bronze,” said Belinda. “Each of the 12 sculptures is painstakingly hand-finished by me, so they all have their own individual looks and are available in the traditional bronze, as well as the eye-catching palomino golden-hued finish.”
Belinda produces highly collectable, limited edition bronze sculptures. Although many of her pieces are equestrian, she has an extensive portfolio that includes dogs, wildlife, birds and farm animals too. In addition to sculptures Belinda creates based on her own images, she also accepts commissions. A large collection of sculptures, including new pieces for 2016, will be on display at Badminton on stand 191, Deer Park Drive.
