Organisers of Royal Windsor Horse Show are pleased to announce a stellar showing line-up for the prestigious annual event, which kicks off the summer show season from Wednesday 11 to Sunday 15 May 2016.
Royal Windsor Horse Show plays host to over 120 showing classes during the five-day show in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. Highlights include the Land Rover Mountain & Moorland Supreme In Hand Championship, the Cob Championship, two Hunter Championships and the Show Pony Championship.
The Queen will once again be deeply involved in the action with 15 horses entered across 10 classes. This year Royal Windsor Horse Show is host to The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration on the evenings of Thursday 11th – Sunday 15th May, an equestrian, military and musical spectacular to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Royal Windsor Horse Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward said: “This year will have a wonderful atmosphere due to the inclusion of the evening events to celebrate The Queen’s 90th Birthday, so it’s great to see such a high turnout of entries who will be able to be part of something so special. It is also a huge delight to see the show’s popularity amongst the showing community continue to grow and we look forward to welcoming all competitors.”
Many of the nation’s top showing stars will be heading to Royal Windsor Horse Show this year, such as producer Robert Walker, who won all five of the classes he entered last year, including the coveted Hunter championship double. Owner Jill Day has a strong string of horses entered for him, notably reigning Horse of the Year Show champion Vantage Point in the open lightweights, and last year’s Royal Windsor champion, Pride of Place.
Local Berkshire showing producer, Jayne Ross, will also be returning to the scene of her impressive victories last year, with a total of four rides in this year’s classes, including Hello Dolly, winner of the 2015 small hunter and the Alan Ross Ladies Hunter classes. This will be a must-see class as Hello Dolly went on to win at Horse of the Year Show and Royal International, narrowly beating Katie Jerram and Barber’s Shop into second place – this year Katie Jerram will be seeking to reverse these results.
Tickets to watch the action can be purchased on www.rwhs.co.uk or via the box office on 0844 581 4960 from the UK and +44 (0) 121 796 6290 internationally. Or locally at Windsor Information Centre either over the counter or by telephoning +44 (0) 1753 743900.
