Two ‘international’ debutants take Somerford’s feature classes.

Both the winning horses of Somerford Park’s two feature classes were making their international class debuts at this weekend’s event and put in impressive performances.

The Rookery Park Stud CIC2*

Izzy Taylor took Somerford’s Rookery Park Stud’s CIC2* feature event with Lady Bamford’s 9 year old progressive bay, DHI Jet Set.  This was the combination’s first international run having taken one of the Novice sections at Somerford last year and came to the event in good form having finished second in his last two outings at intermediate level at Aston-Le-Walls.

Izzy was the first out on Somerford’s first day of dressage and trailblazer for the 2 star cross country on Sunday.  She was overtaken at the very end of the second day of dressage by Tim Price and Ringwood Sky Boy, only to regain her lead (with a double clear and 2.4 cross country time penalties) after Tim incurred 22.4 time penalties cross country, saving his horse for a Burghley bid.

It was a good day for Izzy who also finished 4th in the class on Springpower.

Of her winning ride, Izzy commented: “We had a lovely clear cross country with a couple of time faults, came into the showjumping and did a super clear and won.  He’s quite inexperienced for his age but I am absolutely thrilled with how he’s gone today.”

Final scores for the top three were:

1.   Izzy Taylor and DHI Jet Set (41.9)

2.   Alex Hua-Tian and Geniro  (42.3)

3.   Emilie Chandler and Goortfadda Diamond  (44.3)

The Andrews Bowen CIC1*

Harry Harding took the Andrews Bowen CIC1* when he finished top with Georgie Girl and third on Goteus S. Georgie Girl’s most recent runs have been at novice level.
