Introduction to Equine Facilitated Learning
Interested in creating new income streams that don’t involve riding horses? Our online Introduction to Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is a great way to find out how mental health can be supported through non-riding activities. It’s a great way to understand how simply being in the presence of a horse promotes wellbeing and a great way to find out more about the Equi-Scotia approach to Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) practitioner training before committing to a longer programme of study. Equi-Scotia has a growing network of Equine Facilitated Learning and Therapy practitioners delivering non riding services supporting mental health in local communities from the Isle of Lewis to the South of England.

New Scottish Qualifications Authority Approved Training Location in Chichester
Equi-Scotia is delighted to be partnering with The Haven Equine Assisted Therapy Centre to deliver practical workshops. The Haven is set in a tranquil location and has an outstanding covered arena and awesome views of the local countryside creating the ideal environment for practitioner training.
A group of delegates recently completed 2 days of practical workshops with most working towards the new ACCPH accredited Certificate in Equine Facilitated Learning.
New Certificate in EFL for Practitioners
Positive endorsement from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) about the academic standards on the Professional Diploma (SCQF level 8 – English level 5) led the team to develop a new entry level qualification for practitioners. This ACCPH accredited Certificate is ideal for experienced equestrians wishing to gain skills and knowledge to support mental wellness through non riding activities. This blended learning course has a very practical focus and includes SQA and Ofqual accredited First Aid for Mental Health. Applicants to the Certificate course should have completed the 6 hour online Introduction to EFL.
On the Certificate course students learn:-
- Simple tools for self-regulation and anxiety management
- Life & work coaching skills
- How to start a supportive conversation about mental health
- How to facilitate non riding activities promoting personal development
- How to generate new revenue streams without any physical wear and tear on horses
