Horse & Country TV’s documentary series Yard Talk and H&C Masterclass will feature some of equestrianism’s brightest talents this spring.
Coming up on Monday 26th January 2015 is Australian carriage driver Boyd Exell. H&C filmed with Boyd shortly before his move from Leicestershire to the Netherlands, and in his Yard Talk show he talks about his remarkable carriage driving career and what it meant to win gold at last year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. He also gives an exclusive Masterclass about maintaining the correct contact.
“Boyd’s masterclass is a must-see for anyone who wants to discover more about the sport of carriage driving, or who wants to learn more from one of the best drivers in the world,” says series producer and regular H&C presenter Jenny Rudall. “Boyd is an exceptional horseman and you can see how much work and determination it has taken to get him to the top."
Dressage fans should set their reminders for the forthcoming Yard Talk and H&C Masterclassshows starring Gareth Hughes. Gareth was on the British team at both the 2013 FEI European Championships as well as last summer’s World Equestrian Games. In the shows he talks about his early life in Australia and his rise to the top in dressage; while his masterclass demystifies the half-pass.
“Not only is Gareth a talented rider, but in his masterclass he demonstrates why he has built a reputation as one of the country’s top trainers, with clear and easy to follow instructions,” says Jenny.
The Gareth Hughes Yard Talk and H&C Masterclassshows premiere on Tuesday 24th February at 9pm.
Completing series two is Phillip Miller, the winner of the 2013 Hickstead Derby with Caritiar Z. In his Yard Talk, Phillip talks about learning to ride at his local riding school, and remaining there three decades on having become one of the country’s top national competitors. He also gives a superb masterclass about introducing a young horse to fillers and spooky fences.
“Phillip is a great character and his story is so inspiring – that anyone can go from their local riding school to winning the Hickstead Derby and appearing on Nations Cup teams,” says Jenny.
Phillip Miller’s Yard Talk and H&C Masterclass will be shown on Monday 30th March at 9pm.
Since their launch on the channel in 2013, the shows Yard Talk and H&C Masterclass have become hugely popular with the Horse & Country TV audience. Yard Talk features in-depth interviews with the sport’s leading personalities and members of their support team, while H&C Masterclass brings viewers tips and advice from some of the best trainers in the world. The series has already featured some of the best known names in the horseworld, including eventer Tina Cook, dressage rider Richard Davison, showjumper Geoff Billington, show producer Robert Walker, and Para-equestrians Natasha Baker and Sophie Wells.
“We know that Horse & Country viewers love discovering more about their favourite riders, and learning from their advice, which is why the Yard Talk and H&C Masterclass series have been such a hit,” says Head of Programming Jonathan Rippon. “We’re delighted to be bringing you these new episodes, with insight and advice across a number of equestrian disciplines.”
Horse & Country is available on Sky 253 and online (UK/Ireland only) via H&C Everywhere.
