Ted Boggis has been appointed as the new President of the Society of Master Saddlers.
Well-known throughout the industry Ted has had a successful career running RB Equestrian in Milton Keynes. A true family business started by his wife, Rosslyn, RB Equestrian is now one of the largest and most well respected stores in the UK.
Ted will work closely with the Chief Executive, Hazel Morley, and the Executive Committee, along with the sub-committees over the coming year and was appointed to this new position at the Society of Master Saddlers’ AGM held at Capel Manor College
Ted takes over from Chris Taylor, with Bea Blakeman moving into the Vice President’s role.
Recounting his year in office Chris said: "As the president people talk to you which is very useful as in the coming years we will probably see big changes coming through as to where we want to be in five years’ time.
“I am often asked what does the Society of Master Saddlers do for me? I am a bench saddler, a Master Saddler and all the customers in my area know me well.
“But when I first started it was great that as a member I could display the society’s logo showing my customers I belonged to a professional trade association which not only gave me credibility but also gave me faith there were people at the end of the telephone with skills and knowledge to support me.
“Without doubt we owe it to those following us, to the younger generation to be there for them as people were for us when we started out.”
On his new appointment Ted added: “I am honoured to be the next President of the Society of Master Saddlers and thank Chris for being last year’s President and helping us with his wisdom, clarity of thought and hard work.
“The Society he has left is in good shape and I hope to continue that trajectory. We need to continue to work hard to ensure British saddlery remains at its best in 25 years’ time.
“We have to be well aware of the future and keep the general public riding responsibly. The ethos has always been about horse and rider wellbeing and we need to keep striving to promote the welfare of the horse.”
