As the Cyden Dressage Stallions return home from stud to Lara Dyson’s yard in North East Lincolnshire, at the forefront of Lara’s mind was how much she had missed them being away from home!

All three Cyden Stallions, KWPN approved Cyden Cadans M, KWPN approved Cyden Bodyguard Moorland and NWPSC pony stallion Cyden Oostings Amigo have been away standing at Stallion AI services for four weeks.

Sending your stallions to stud is a big commitment, especially if they combine their duties as a working stallion with a competition career, as is the case with the Cyden Stallions.

This requires careful timetabling and preparation for a break within their season.

The planning for a successful breeding season began some months ago. As well as fitting in the stallions various competing commitments, Lara had to ensure that the stallions were seen out and about to spread the word they were going to be available to mare owners for the first time.

In January all three stallions travelled to the prestigious British Stallion Event at Hartpury College in Gloustershire. This one day event sees some of the top stallions from the UK and Europe presented, so the Cyden Stallions were in good company, with Lara getting the opportunity to show off her boys and also gain some valuable experience. Cyden Oostings Amigo even had the honour of being showcase by Phoebe Peters.

Before Lara handed over the care of her boys to Stallion AI Services there was another chance to promote the Cyden Stallions to prospective mare owners at the facilities open day.

This was an opportunity for anyone thinking of breeding from their mare to attend Stallion AI services and see the stallions that were available at stud this season.

All three revelled in the atmosphere to strut their stuff and really show off their talents. For Lara, this would be the last time she would get to ride them before she had to say goodbye to the stallions for a month.

It was difficult for Lara to let go of responsibility for her stallions but she made the decision to send them away to stud to prevent them from associating home and herself with breeding and stallion like behaviour.

Stallion AI Service’s excellent Stalcam CCTV provided Lara with much comfort; this gives owners the chance to view their stallions in their stalls 24 hours a day.

After her initial apprehension Lara has nothing but praise for the state of the art facilities and excellent care provided by the team at Stallion AI.

Of her first experience of sending stallion’s to stud Lara had this to say:

“When I made the decision to make my stallions available for stud, I knew it would be difficult to hand over their care to someone else as my horse’s really mean the world to me. After two fantastic days with my boys at Stallion AI, settling them in and taking part in the open day, I found driving home with an empty lorry rather upsetting!

“However, I had no need to worry at all, as the care they have been given has been exceptional, every time I visited them they looked so well and happy, I can’t thank the team at Stallion AI enough.

“We were glued to the Stalcam CCTV, it became quite addictive!

“The response to the Cyden Stallions standing at stud has been amazing and I can’t wait to see all the little Cadans, Bodyguards and Amigos, when they are born next summer.”

Frozen semen is available from all the Cyden Stallions, Cyden Cadans M, Cyden Bodyguard Moorland and Cyden Oostings Amigo.
