In order for a foal to mature into a healthy horse that will withstand the rigours of its life ahead, its mother must be provided with correct nutrition before conception, right through the pregnancy and whilst lactating.
As the foal is completely reliant on the mother for nutrition, it is with the dam that the foundations for a strong healthy foal lie.
