Mari Durward Akhurst, a 24-year-old dressage rider from Amersham, realised a dream by taking her first international victory at the Hartpury International Festival of Dressage held at the beginning of July and she gives credit to the Mobiliser from Back in Action (also based in Amersham) for helping her achieve the winning scores.
She was third in the Team Test behind Sophie Christiansen and Diane Green who are both International Para riders and then Mari pulled out all the stops to take the Grade I Individual with a score of 71.60% and the Freestyle with a whopping plus-73%.
Mari who has Cerebral Palsy is a determined, talented, young rider making strides in the sport. With her success at the International competition she has caught the attention of the selectors for a place on the team for the World Equestrian Games being held in Tryon, North Carolina USA in September 2018.
Mari has credited a local business Back In Action for helping to relax and improve her dressage riding. She regularly uses a MOBILISER and finds that it helps her condition giving her a respite from the constant pain she suffers.
“The Mobiliser really has helped and gives me a chance to get away from the pain and to have a chance to actually relax which is wonderful. It has also helped me to be straighter in the saddle and to loosen of all my muscles that get extremely tight.” Watch here
The Mobiliser has been developed, trialled and tested with health and sport professionals.
It offers fundamental mobilisation of the spinal joints which in turn improve the horse’s gait. This was proven by independent research in 2014. The Mobiliser incorporates unique “thumbs” that run up and down the spine slightly pulling apart each joint from the Mobiliser, with a variety of vibrating and pulsing massage elements. Being able to use each component individually gives each individual a wide option of health benefits. It helps soothe sore, tired muscles and reduce lactic acid build. For the many para and able bodied riders who regularly use a massage therapist to loosen muscles and treat sore points this advanced “massage bed” provides a daily massage to help combat stiff muscles in the comfort of your own home.
The Mobiliser has a series of pre-programmed sessions that last for 15 minutes and used twice a day it will provide relief to tired muscles and kick start the back into action, removing aches, pains, stiffness and soreness.
Professional riders and firm believers in the benefits of the Mobiliser include Harry Meade and Carl Hester. They too, with other sports professionals from premiership football, rowing, golf and tennis have credited the Mobiliser with improving flexibility and sporting performance.
This Mobiliser can be hired or purchased and an online personal consultancy service is given. Prices start at approx. £40 per week to hire a unit. For more information contact
