Young Rider Annabel Delights in Amateur Final
SIXTEEN-year-old Annabel Lomas was the delighted winner of a fast-paced Equerry Horse Feeds CSIAm Bronze final at a sun-kissed Equitop Bolesworth Young Horse Championships.

With 15 through to the jump-off, Buxton-based Annabel had her work cut out, but riding the 10-year-old mare, Vraiecocotte Berence, she kicked on to the last, clear in 33.40 seconds.
Said Annabel: “This is my first win at Bolesworth in the International Arena and she went fantastically.
“I have just finished at school so it really is a fantastic summer for me. We bought her from Carl Edwards and I am now competing at 1.20m to 1.30m level.
“She is a very reliable mare and consistent and I am hoping we slowly progress up the levels as she gives me so much confidence.”
Taking second and third place was Vicky Burns with Hippy and Denzel II.
The Litchfield-based rider set a blistering pace in the class from second draw when coming home in 33.59 seconds on her first ride, the bay gelding, Denzel II, but it was the grey, Hippy, that took a more direct line in 33.51 seconds.
Said Vicky: “Hippy is fantastic in a jump off as he is always looking for the next fence which is a huge help.
“Denzel has just come back after a year off with injury from trying to jump out of the field so I am delighted with both of them.”
Former Leading Event Rider Wins Voltaire Design Final
Laura Jackson, a former Badminton competitor turned show jumper pulled off a great win in the Voltaire Design CSIAm-A Platinum final at the Equitop Bolesworth Young Horse Championships.
Riding the talented seven-year-old, Gloria VI, Laura was full of praise for Jo Bamford’s mare.

Based in Warwickshire, she evented as Laura Sheard, competing at top-level until selling her leading rides when she bought two young horses that showed great promise in the world of show jumping.
Said Laura: “This is my first time at Bolesworth. I have been wanting to come and compete for a while so it’s great to be here.
“I work with horses full time managing a yard and my event horses always did well in the jumping phases but there was more work to be done on the dressage so it made sense to show jump full time.
“Gloria had six weeks off before the show as I have been busy with Pony Club camp and the summer holidays, so to come here and win is fantastic.
“She is such an easy mare and there is no rush for the future so we are just taking our time as she is so kind and forgiving and we want to keep her that way.
“Naturally fast against the clock, she could event at a high level and can turn her hand to anything. As long as I sit and leave her to jump she is very special.”
Another rider having a great week and taking the runner up spot was Polly Shaw and Why Not Fado, with Gemma Wright continuing her excellent show with Cool Boy in third place.
Harriet Lifts the Lid at Bolesworth
New National Champion, Harriet Nuttall and Silver Lift survived a rub at the last to win the Equestrizone CSI2* final at a sun-baked Equitop Bolesworth Young Horse Championships.

A competition packed with drama and speed there was a good turnout ringside for the 1.30m class which had everything to keep them entertained.
The up-to-height track saw a gallop to the final fence, an upright with water tray which fell with ease.
Zach Beesley and VDL Groeo Alitta put in a great effort finishing in a time of 36.07 seconds but it was a battle royal between the ladies for the top placings.
Georgia Tame rode in the confident manner we are so accustomed to shaving every corner and surviving a rub at the last to cut three seconds off his time.
Her lead was however, short-lived with Louise Saywell and Feigtling, a favourite with the crowd saying she would be fast.
The bay, a long time stalwart to her team didn’t disappoint stretching to reach the parallel going into the double to take the lead in 32.17 seconds and eventual runner-up position.
With tension mounting, Annabel Shields and Wet Wet Wet showed why their partnership is so strong, literally sneaking over the final fence and showing their trust in each other, losing seconds for final third place.
But nothing’s over until speed merchant Harriet Nuttall enters the ring and with her ride of eight years, Silver Lift, her partner when winning the Hickstead Speed Derby earlier this year, they wasted no time in the air galloping to the water tray and stealing the top award in 32.05 seconds.
Bringing the curtain down on this fast paced class Harriet said: “We know each other inside out and have so much trust and confidence together. He doesn’t waste any time in the air which is really what wins classes when it comes to the jump-off or speed classes.”
