What is equestrian safeguarding training?
If you work with or around children, vulnerable adults, and/or young people under the age of 18 in the United Kingdom, you are required by law to complete a safeguarding training course.
Most online safeguarding courses are developed with a ‘one size fits all’ intention and can be taken by any individual working in any setting. As you can probably guess, the safeguarding processes and procedures for a childminder working from home and a school teacher, for example, are quite different to the safeguarding processes and procedures that are used in an equestrian setting.
At the Child Protection Company, we don’t believe in ‘one size fits all’ safeguarding training. We know that good safeguarding training is best when it’s written in the context of your workplace and is reflective of the specific challenges you might face at work. That’s why all of our online safeguarding courses are developed with industry professionals and safeguarding experts to include case studies and resources specific to your working environment.
How easy is it to set up equestrian safeguarding training?
The Child Protection Company is one of the leading providers of equestrian safeguarding training in the United Kingdom, and our easy to use online courses offer an excellent training solution to even the busiest of equestrians.
Our three equestrian safeguarding training courses are specifically designed to reflect the unique needs of an equestrian environment and the interactions you are likely to have with children, young people, and vulnerable adults while at work or volunteering in the stables.
We’ve worked in partnership with equestrian experts from organisations such as the British Equestrian Federation to develop 3 bespoke online equestrian safeguarding courses that are recognised by the British Horse Society.
Equestrian Basic Safeguarding Awareness
This introductory equestrian safeguarding training course is suitable for anyone who works or volunteers in an equestrian setting.
If you work as an Instructor/Coach or if you have additional responsibilities for safeguarding in your workplace, you should consider our Equestrian Advanced Safeguarding or Equestrian Advanced Safeguarding for Safeguarding Officers courses as a more suitable alternative.

How easy is it to set up equestrian safeguarding training?
Providing you meet the requirements for online equestrian safeguarding training (you must have completed a British Equestrian Federation face-to-face safeguarding course within the last 3 years if you are an equestrian professional wishing to use our online courses as refresher training), setting up your training is as simple as 1, 2, 3!
- Select the courses you would like to purchase for yourself or your organisation/team by browsing the selection on our Equestrian safeguarding training page. Input the number of courses you would like on the individual course page and select ‘Add to Basket’.
We provide discounts on bulk purchases, which will be automatically applied at the online checkout or if you are purchasing fewer, we also offer a discount of 10% when you use the code WATSON at the checkout . - At the online checkout, you will be prompted to register your organisation or to set up an account for yourself if you are purchasing as an individual. This is a really simple process that takes a matter of minutes (or less, if you’re a fast typer!) but it’s really important to check first that your organisation doesn’t already have an account with the Child Protection Company. If it turns out that you do, select the option to sign in instead of registering your account.
- Once your courses are purchased and you’ve logged in to your account, you can either begin training straight away by selecting the course on your home page, or you can set up your organisation by adding the staff list to your personal online learning management system. This will allow you to select who can take each course you’ve purchased, and you will be able to see a live record of who has or hasn’t completed each course they’ve been assigned.
Can I purchase additional equestrian safeguarding training courses after I have signed up?
Yes, you can purchase additional safeguarding courses from the Child Protection at any time by simply logging in to your account, adding the courses to your basket, and completing the online checkout process – don’t forget to use the code WATSON to access your 10% discount everytime!
How long will I have to wait for my safeguarding certificate?
We don’t like waiting around here at the Child Protection Company, so you’ll find your safeguarding certificate ready to download immediately upon successful completion of your course.
Because we know how easy it can be for paperwork to get lost, we’ve made it possible for you to access your certificate via the online learning management system 24/7 at the click of a button for the duration of your certification, too.
And just to be really handy, the administrator for your organisation can access all staff certificates in one central location by logging in to our online learning management system, so you can evidence all staff training to inspectors in one go when they come knocking.
